The San Geronimo Train Station was purchased from the North Pacific Coast Railroad in 1935.  It was then converted into the sanctuary and served that purpose until 1967.  The "community building" was built by church and community members shortly after the end WWII using reclaimed lumber from Marin Ship, the ship yard in Marin City that build victory ships.  It was later named the social hall and in 1967 was remodeled to be used as the sanctuary.  It was remodeled again in 1997.

Our church was organized March 13, 1932 and named the San Geronimo Valley Community Church under the direction of the Board of National Missions. The church was supplied with student pastors from the San Francisco Theological Seminary, who also served the Olema mission field that eventually moved to Point Reyes Station. This arrangement continued until August 25, 1941 when the church re-organized as a Presbyterian church. At this time, a Session was elected and Dr. Aaron J. Ungersma served as moderator. The Church remained under the authority of the Board of National Missions until June 27, 1954, when John C. Bonner was ordained and installed as our first full time pastor.

The Reverend John Bonner served our church until April 1961. This period was our greatest time of growth. Membership grew and supported a large multi-denominational youth group. The Reverend Dr. Clifford Drury served as our stated supply and delivered some very interesting history lessons. The Reverend Jim Upshaw moderated the Session. The Reverend Charles Orr, Jr. was the next pastor called to this church. Charles was ordained and installed in December 1961. During his tenure, the Point Reyes Presbyterian Church considered closing down as they were unable to find a pastor to conduct regular church service. He thought the church should be saved and asked the San Geronimo Session for permission to help out in Point Reyes. The Session granted permission for him to conduct Sunday worship service and spend one day a week in pastoral care for the Point Reyes congregation. This service was performed without compensation at first and as their situation changed, Point Reyes began to compensate him for his efforts. This was the beginning of our relationship with the Point Reyes church. Charles resigned in September 1966.

James Robie conducted church services, etc., during the interim, as a stated supply..

Our next pastor called was The Reverend Willard L. Frederickson. He was installed in February 1967. Bill continued the tradition of early church service at Point Reyes and spending Thursdays in pastoral care, church business and moderating their Session. This arrangement was beneficial to both churches and provided a suitable income that allowed him to remain with us for 28 years. Reverend Frederickson retired at the end of 1993. He recused himself during our pastor search, but remained in the community and became our Pastor Emeritus until his death in 1998.

The Reverend Richard Pyke served as our interim pastor from January 1994 until May of 1995. During this time, our church was completely remodeled. When The Reverend John Dillon accepted our call in June of 1995, he also became the pastor of the Point Reyes Presbyterian Church. At that time, we still had no formal agreement between the churches and the split between the pastoral compensation and duties was approximately 1/3 Point Reyes and 2/3 San Geronimo. The churches also entered into a partnership with the Dillons to allow them to purchase a home in West Marin. This is essential to the call of a pastor in this high cost housing area. Rev. Dillon resigned in April of 2000, and accepted a call in Arkansas.

The Reverend Carol Shellenberger served as our interim pastor until we called the Rev. Dr. Hugh Burroughs., who served until September 2003.

At this time, the Point Reyes Presbyterian Church and the San Geronimo Community Presbyterian Church ended their relationship, i.e. sharing pastors.  Our long time friend The Reverend Gene Burris, who had recently retired, agreed to serve as our part time interim pastor.  Rev. Burris had always been “around” this church, serving as pulpit supply, friend of the church and associate pastor for a while.  He was married to his wife Linda in this church, so it was only natural that he serve as interim pastor when the opportunity presented itself.

During our pastor search, our congregation decided to call a full time pastor.  This expanded our search, and we exceeded the time Rev. Burris agreed to serve, so The Reverend Cornel Barnett filled in for two months until our new called pastor, The Reverend Dr. John G. Scott could be installed.
